After a very long journey and very little sleep we arrived at the first stop of our China tour - in Xi'an. In the Middle Ages Xi'an was regarded as one of the four largest cities in the world and even today the 12 million inhabitants are not exactly little - even if this is not sooo big by Chinese standards, as we have learned.

But after the "first night flown through" we first had to sleep in! But then we started immediately with a lot of inspiring impressions. Early in the morning we drove to the museum of the famous "Terracotta Army", a place that is only 45 minutes away from the city.

This imposing monument was only discovered by chance in the 70's by a farmer in the field, stretches over 56 square kilometers and is today considered the "eighth wonder of the world", as our Chinese guide emphasized not without pride. The excavation sites are now covered to protect the figures from the weather. So you walk from hall to hall - without question very impressive! By the way, there is still a lot of digging and restoration going on on the site ...

Here are some impressions of our visit to the Terracotta Army...
